We are seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to provide critical support to a team of 3-4 attorneys through all phases of complex civil litigation. Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage all aspects of case files, from initial complaint through trial and closure, ensuring meticulous attention to detail and adherence to deadlines.
- Independently draft and review pleadings, motions, correspondence, discovery requests and responses, and other legal documents; file documents with both Federal and California Superior Courts.
- Lead the preparation and management of comprehensive discovery processes, including the creation of discovery plans, drafting of requests and responses, and coordinating with opposing counsel.
- Schedule and prepare attorneys and witnesses for depositions, ensuring all necessary documents and materials are in place.
- Play a pivotal role in trial preparation by organizing trial binders, exhibits, coordinating with expert witnesses, and liaising with court personnel. Provide in-court support as needed.
- Conduct advanced legal research, including case law, court rules, and procedures; provide attorneys with concise, actionable insights.
- Prepare and manage motions, ensuring thoroughness, accuracy, and strategic alignment with case objectives.
- Act as a liaison between attorneys, clients, experts, and court staff, ensuring clear and consistent communication throughout the litigation process.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3-5+ years of paralegal experience in plaintiff-side civil litigation, with a strong background in toxic tort or similar high-volume civil litigation practice area.
- ABA-approved Paralegal certificate required.
- Extensive knowledge of Federal and California civil procedures, court rules, and e-filing systems.
- Proven experience in drafting complex legal documents, managing comprehensive discovery processes, and preparing cases for trial.
- Advanced skills in legal software and technology, including case management systems and e-discovery tools.
- Exceptional organizational abilities and communication skills, with a proactive, self-starter approach to managing tasks and deadlines.
- Ability to work full-time on-site in Emeryville, CA is mandatory.
