- 2 years work experience in fiber optics, with an emphasis on lasers
- Specialized skills in equipment controls, circuit design, database system, and/or automation.
- Maintain laser and chemical safety procedures in various laboratories and clean rooms.
- Ability to utilize drawings, mathematics, handbook formulas, and precision measuring instruments
- Bachelor of Science in Physics, Engineering or Optics preferred.
Inside Full JOB SUMMARY
The focus of the Fiber Laser Development Technician is to assist in the development and fabrication of high- power fiber lasers for medical, industrial, and other specific applications.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist engineering team in the development of high-power fiber lasers focused on medical product growth.
- Work independently on development projects as directed by engineering leads.
- Design and perform comprehensive tests and measurements on optical components and lasers to ensure conformance to design specifications.
- Document development process.
- Collect and analyze data and present the results and findings to team members.
- Support on-going process development and prototype manufacturing.
- Provide training and procedures to support the transfer of newly developed products to manufacturing.

- EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:. Requires a minimum of 2 years work experience in fiber optics, with an emphasis on lasers.
- Bachelor of Science in Physics, Engineering or Optics preferred.
- Specialized skill sin equipment controls, circuit design, database system, and/or automation are an asset.
- PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to use fingers and hands to manipulate small parts.
- Excellent vision is required to perform job.
- Required to work with toxic or caustic chemicals.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
