Job Description: Wetland Delineator
Our Client is seeking an experienced Environmental Scientist/Wetland Delineator with over 5 years of experience to join their Natural Resources team. Position Overview
The ideal candidate will excel both independently and as part of a team, demonstrating proficiency in conducting Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), Phase I reports, and contributing significantly to National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documentation. This position can be located in Nashville, Memphis, Knoxville, or Houston.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct hydrologic determinations and wetland delineations independently, adhering to federal, state, and local regulations.
- Prepare detailed reports and documentation for hydrologic determinations and wetland delineations, including maps, field notes, and findings.
- Provide technical support and guidance on hydrology, wetlands, and regulatory compliance to project teams and clients.
- Coordinate with regulatory agencies and stakeholders to achieve project objectives and meet regulatory requirements.
- Perform stream functional assessments using Rosgen or Stream Quantification Tool (SQT) methods.
- Participate in fieldwork, data collection, and analysis to support project goals.
- Prepare and submit permit applications, including Section 404/401 under the Clean Water Act and applicable state regulations.
- Conduct Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and prepare reports in accordance with ASTM E2247-16, ASTM E1527-13, and ASTM E1527-21 standards.
- Coordinate initial studies, draft, and finalize NEPA documents.
- Manage the public review process and draft project closure documentation (FONSI/FONPA).
- Engage in balanced field and office work with overnight travel required approximately 10-15% of the time.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Hydrology, or a related field; Master’s degree is a plus.
- Over 5 years of experience in conducting hydrologic determinations and wetland delineations, preferably within a consulting environment.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations related to wetlands, including the Clean Water Act and Section 404/401 permitting.
- Proficiency in GIS software and other technical tools for data analysis and mapping.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to diverse audiences.
- Experience and training in Rosgen or SQT stream functional assessment methods.
- TN Qualified Hydrologic Professional (QHP) and/or Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS) certification preferred, or willingness to pursue these certifications (PWS-IT or QHP-IT).
- Willingness to travel and work outdoors in various weather conditions as needed.
