We are seeking full-time Service Dog Trainers who share our passion for making a difference. As a trainer, you will:
- Care for and train our dogs: Guide them through obedience and advanced specialized skills using positive reinforcement methods.
- Maintain comprehensive records: Track each dog’s training progress and evaluations.
- Assist in facility upkeep: Ensure the well-being of our dogs through feeding, cleaning, grooming, and administering medication.
- Coach our clients: Empower them to effectively train their own service dogs.
The right candidate must:
- Be able to work weekends and holidays.
- Be comfortable working with people.
- Enjoy helping and coaching others.
- Be able to lift 50 lbs and stand for extended hours.
- Be able to work outside in both cold and warm temperatures.
- Exhibit patience with both dogs and people.
- Be capable of working with minimal supervision.
- Have excellent communication skills and a strong customer service attitude.
- Be able to work in an environment with exposure to disinfectants, animal dander, loud noises, and excretions.
Our ideal candidates are not only passionate about dogs and people but also possess excellent communication skills, patience, and a caring demeanor. Proficiency in clicker training, learning theory, and behavior modification is essential, as we exclusively use positive reinforcement methods.
Qualifications include:
- High School Diploma or GED
- At least 1 year of professional dog training experience
- Proficiency in clicker training
- Preferred: Certification such as CPDT-KA or KPA
