SUMMARY
Responsible for overseeing the operations of the production floor across all shifts for Southern Champion Tray’s Corrugated Packaging facility. Responsible for leading overall safety, quality, productivity, efficiency, cost control, and compliance of the production facility. Provides functional leadership to a highly energized and empowered work team, including a team of production, maintenance, and warehouse Supervisors in a unique culture that honors relationships with customers, suppliers, and team members. Provides direction that directly supports the growth and profitability of the organization, aids in establishing policies, budgets, and guides and utilizes all resources to achieve optimal performance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Demonstrates a personal commitment to Safety through leading and promoting behavior-based safety initiatives; accountable to the safety of all team members while encouraging a culture of situational awareness focused on identifying weak signals that can lead to unsafe behaviors and conditions.
Leads a team of Supervisors overseeing and managing daily activities of all aspects of Production, Maintenance, Shipping and Warehouse responsible for a multi-shift workforce in fast-paced, growing manufacturing facility focused on exceeding customer expectations with great quality and service
Drives operational decisions regarding equipment utilization, maintenance, modification, and procurement, and consistently evaluates and manages machine resources to ensure productivity and minimal downtime; implements cost control programs.
Balances quality, productivity, cost, workplace safety, product safety and compliance, and morale to achieve positive results in all areas with ownership of the manufacturing process.
Plans, organizes, directs and controls all manufacturing operations, reliability, and maintenance of production equipment.
Reviews and assesses production schedules and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing and maintenance problems to ensure minimal downtime with minimal cost; communicates and reinforces production schedules, sustaining the highest operational quality, productivity, and efficiency levels; conducts daily, weekly and/or monthly production meetings as needed to discuss scheduling and other operational needs.
Develops workforce requirements and machine requirements to meet work schedules; partners closely with Supervisors and People Business Partner in workforce planning to ensure customer needs are met while optimizing utilization of people and labor hours.
Develops and communicates key performance indicators to all stakeholders to achieve organizational objectives; ensures that production goals and performance metrics are effectively and regularly communicated to all production team members.
Establishes and supports the development of workflow policies that enhance speed and efficiency without compromising product safety or integrity.
Actively supports and upholds commitment to safety including partnering with Safety leaders to ensure regular safety audits, implementation of safety improvements; initiates and participates in accident investigations and/or near miss investigations when necessary; ensures corrective action is identified and implemented.
Consistently models and complies with all SCT and regulatory safety policies; wears appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for the task at hand and within the assigned area.
Partners with Quality Manager to develop and promote quality procedures, policies and related KPI’s; supports the development and implementation of tactical plans for improvement.
Participates in the corrective action process and ensures corrective/preventive actions are implemented for internal and external customer complaints; works with operating areas to prioritize improvement opportunities.
Actively seeks opportunities for improvement and partners with Continuous Improvement to explore and initiate action; promotes engagement among all Production Supervisors and team members to drive a culture of Continuous Improvement where team members actively recommend measures to improve work processes, procedures, working conditions, use of equipment and/or equipment performance, and the expectation to participate in improvement projects.
Manages, coaches and develops Shift Supervisors / Leaders providing support and guidance to achieve operational objectives, drive quality and operational improvements, establishing of objectives, managing performance of people, and overall enhancing operational knowledge and expertise.
Regularly and effectively communicates with all production leaders and direct reports to ensure effective cascading of information, status of projects, and key factors related to the operations of the plant; conducts regular one-on-one meetings with direct reports while consistently promoting open lines of continuous communication.
Determines necessary resources (people, equipment, and/or materials) and training required to ensure output meets and/or exceeds quality and productivity standards; ensures necessary training is conducted (both formal and informal) utilizing training guides and tools to document training progress; works with Supervisors to establish and implement detailed development plans.
Supports and monitors the use of regular quality checks to ensure compliance of product safety, workplace safety, and SCT policies are met per regulatory and SCT standards; actively supports Quality and Safety team with ensuring compliance and standards are maintained.
Assists with facilitating efforts to troubleshoot equipment and products to determine root cause, recommends solutions and ensures that on-the-job training is provided to Team Members when necessary.
Maintains current industry knowledge of equipment capabilities, automation, industry trends and other relevant information that would add to the safety, efficiency and profitability of the plant; actively participates in researching and exploring capital investments with regard to new equipment or technologies; partners with General Manager / Site Manager to develop data needed to support capital requests to executive management.
Actively partners with Talent Acquisition and People Business Partner to identify and select new team members who meet both the technical and behavioral qualifications necessary to perform the job; works with Supervisors and the People Team to hire and onboard new team members.
Continuously provides performance feedback to team members through effective coaching and constructive conversations; provides on-going support and regular recognition and praise; drives accountability among the team for actions or performance that are not in line with our Operating Priorities (Safety, Quality, Production, and Teamwork) and works with People Team to administer disciplinary action when necessary.
Ensures completion and delivery of on-schedule performance reviews to Team Members while providing meaningful and effective feedback; works with People Business Partner to administer and calibrate merit-based salary increases in a consistent and fair manner aligned with SCT’s compensation philosophy and framework.
Actively models, and promotes the culture focused on building and maintaining the behaviors central to SCT’s core values; partners with People Business Partner to manage and resolve Team Member issues effectively and consistently; ensures and maintains a non-bias, consistent and fair approach to the administration of policies and procedures including recognition, rewards, advancement, and all other team member procedures in accordance with SCT’s policies and standards.
Regularly attends and actively participates in monthly/weekly staff meetings and other meetings as required a[JH1] [DF2] nd periodically conducts meetings to communicate updates, policies, procedures, etc. to manufacturing supervision and team members across all shifts, as needed.
Effectively compiles, documents, stores, and retrieves production data needed to assess production data evaluate performance, identify gaps, and inform operational decisions.
Follows all safety related policies, rules, regulations, technical instructions, and guidelines; uses situational awareness and actively looks for weak signals to identify unsafe behaviors and conditions;
