The Inpatient Coder will play a crucial role in our client’s health information management team, focusing on the precision and integrity of inpatient coding. Focus:
- Accurately code inpatient records in a dynamic healthcare environment, ensuring adherence to the latest guidelines and regulations.
- Participate in quality assurance initiatives to maintain the highest standards of coding accuracy and compliance.
- Assist in educating clinical staff on coding practices and documentation requirements to enhance the accuracy of medical records.
- Keep abreast of the latest trends in medical coding, including updates to regulations and breakthroughs in technology.
Skill Set:
- Three or more years of inpatient coding proficiency in a bustling health facility, with a preference for backgrounds in educational hospital settings.
- Certification as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) is essential. Dual certification or Certified Documentation Improvement Practitioner (CDIP)/Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) credentials are highly preferred.
- Active membership with the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) is required.
- A minimum of an associate degree in Health Information Management or a related field is preferred, with a strong emphasis on continuous professional development.
- Preference will be given to individuals boasting four years of inpatient coding expertise, especially those with experience in academic or teaching hospitals.
