Corporate Vice President of Security and Surveillance
SUMMARY:
The Corporate Vice President of Security and Surveillance is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the safety and security of all casino properties, assets, employees, and guests. This position develops, implements, and monitors security protocols, and leads a team of security professionals across multiple locations to uphold the highest standards of safety, compliance, enforce regulations, and ensure observance of applicable laws. This leadership role demands a strategic thinker with extensive experience in security management, risk assessment, and emergency preparedness.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement a comprehensive security strategy across all casino properties, aligning with corporate goals and industry best practices.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify potential threats to the organization, and design preventive measures to mitigate these risks.
- Lead, mentor, and oversee a team of security directors, managers, and personnel across multiple locations, ensuring consistent application of security policies and procedures.
Direct coordination of training in fire life safety, CPR, as well as other programs as necessary.
- As needed, review, create and implement emergency response plans for various scenarios, including natural disasters, active shooter situations, and other critical incidents.
- Ensure all security operations comply with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as internal company policies and procedures.
Lead and direct investigations of accidents, thefts, property loss, unlawful activities and other safety concerns, ensuring thorough documentation and resolution.
- Manage relationships with third-party security vendors, ensuring their services meet the organization's standards and requirements.
- Develop and manage the security department's budget, ensuring cost-effective allocation of resources.
Develops cost proposals and cost estimates for protective equipment and resources as needed.
Serve as the primary point of contact for security-related matters, providing regular updates to executive leadership and other key stakeholders.
Provides independent departmental participation in procedures and transactions affecting the Casino and related departments.
Understands all processes related to Security within a Gaming Corporation.
Promote safe work practices. Assist in ensuring compliance with OSHA standards and preventive measures.
Conduct Security Leadership meetings. Attend and participate in other required meetings.
Community involvement to include development of relationships within the Gaming Community.
Act as liaison with federal, state and local law enforcement agencies
Review and implement security assessments to identify policy, staffing, and technology requirements that drive continuous improvement.
Frequently walk the properties with key department members to identify and formulate strategies for mitigating property issues around security management situations.
Maintain regular communication with property leadership regarding security and risk control/loss prevention and liability issues to assure compliance with policies and procedures.
The position requires a high level of responsibility, including travel to various casino properties. The Corporate VP of Security and Surveillance must be available for emergency situations outside of regular working hours.
SURVEILLANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Works closely with Property Surveillance departments to ensure they are supporting the property operations teams.
Provides corporate oversight to the property surveillance departments
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Indirectly manages the Security and Surveillance departments at all Affinity Gaming Properties. Supervisory responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, planning and directing work, training, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining team members, and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in security management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role, preferably in the gaming or hospitality industry.
- Strong knowledge of security systems, technologies, and best practices.
- Experience in risk assessment, emergency response planning, and regulatory compliance.
- Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams across multiple locations.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Nevada Gaming Control Board registration required.
- AVADE Instructor Certification a plus.
- Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or similar certification is highly desirable.
