Overview:
The Manufacturing Engineering Manager is tasked with standardizing and enhancing manufacturing processes. This role involves ensuring that engineered systems are well-established and maintained to support efficient process execution and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the Manufacturing Process Engineering Team, fostering skill growth and coordinating their activities.
- Work closely with Manufacturing to standardize and refine processes.
- Enhance the team’s knowledge of manufacturing equipment and processes.
- Drive Continuous Improvement initiatives aimed at reducing waste, enhancing product quality, and shortening manufacturing cycle times. This includes identifying key initiatives, managing projects, and coordinating resources.
- Support root cause analysis for quality, throughput, and equipment issues.
- Create programs for operator training and process change management.
- Develop methods to track and display metrics for performance measurement and identify deviations from standards.
- Implement structured solutions to boost product quality, throughput, and customer service.
- Lead Lean Manufacturing activities, focusing on Visual Factory, streamlined material flow, waste reduction, and inventory minimization.
- Maintain system infrastructure integrity, including BOMs, routers, and standards for labor and material.
- Create Standard Operating Procedures to ensure AS9100 compliance and other requirements.
- Promote the use of standardized work and formal problem-solving tools across the manufacturing floor and business.
- Advocate for Lean and Six Sigma methodologies
- Support projects for new product and process development.
- Ensure robust processes are in place for new products.
- Engage in the procurement of new equipment, including designing next-generation equipment
- Undertake additional duties or special projects as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in Manufacturing/Process Engineering within an industrial environment.
- Proven leadership experience as a manager or team lead.
- Formal training in Lean Six Sigma.
- Project Management training preferred.
- Direct team management experience.
- Expertise in Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Process Control.
- Experience with ERP systems.
- Strong passion for Lean Manufacturing and a deep understanding of its principles.
- Demonstrated technical leadership and effective communication skills.
- Self-motivated, proactive thinker able to thrive in a flexible environment.
