The Production Manager oversees all production and production machinery maintenance. Responsible for safety, quality, production staff hours, temp employees, and managing overtime. Goals for this position is to support our value proposition by safely manufacturing quality products for our customers when they need them at the lowest cost possible without sacrificing quality and efficiency. The following description details the duties. These duties are too including but are not limited to the following functions.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide a safe, highly organized, and engaging work department.
Strives for an operation that makes a quality product by doing things right the first time and minimizing waste associated with scrap, wrong product specs, etc.
Coordinates with shipping department to get the products to the job site on schedule.
Schedule production flow to maximize product output.
Promotes teamwork and strong work ethics.
Engages workforce in continual improvement initiatives.
Ability to train new hires in operating equipment safely and efficiently.
Ability to identify high potential/performing employees and promote from within.
Ability to identify weakness in production flow and adjust, on the go, as needed to maximize efficiency.
Works with order entry and shipping for coordination of scheduling and maximization of schedule adherence.
Identifies order entry errors associated with production and will verify with order entry, or sales personnel to make sure order is built correctly.
Gives correct information to upper management as needed.
Works with purchasing department, as needed, for product information as necessary.
Hold all weekly, or as needed safety meetings with production staff.
Identifies needs and reports them to operations manager promptly.
Participates in daily, weekly, monthly, and annual planning process as upper management requires.
Performs all duties and responsibilities in a timely and effective manor, in accordance with established company policies to achieve the overall objectives of this position.
Maintains a favorable working relationship with all other company employees to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate to maximum employee morale, productivity, and efficiency/effectiveness.
Performs all necessary supervisory functions to effectively and efficiently manage the personnel assigned.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.
Qualifications
- Strong manufacturing/warehouse background and problem-solving abilities.
- Hands on ability for training purposes.
- High intelligence and excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to delegate responsibilities effectively.
- High comfort level working in a diverse environment.
- Works well with upper management as well as subordinates.
- Well versed in Microsoft office products, computer literate.
Working conditions
- Job requires extended hours, as needed, to accomplish job requirements.
- Job requires working in manufacturing/warehouse environment which includes high temperatures and humidity.
- Job requires working in and around machinery and associated safety risks.
- Job requires interaction with all levels of the organization including President, VP of Operations, General Manager, VP of Sales, Director of Multifamily and all their direct reports (as needed).
- Job may require interaction with customers to resolve issues.
Physical requirements
- Job requires walking for long periods of time around a manufacturing/warehouse facility.
