Opportunity to join a leading biotechnology company, focused on helping individuals with GI disorders and autoimmune diseases. As an Order Processor, you will be responsible for processing patient sample orders and reconciling test requisition deficiencies enabling the clinical laboratory to process and release results and billing to expedite charges. You will also have a small role in the lab opening shipments received from FedEx each day. This position is 100% onsite and is 6-12 months temporary.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- 1+ years data entry experience.
- 1+ year experience in insurance verification and data entry of medical billing information to include HMO, PPO Medicare and private insurance, knowledge of ICD-9 codes preferred.
- Excellent phone skills and excellent keyboarding skills; 10 key by touch; and the ability to perform alphanumeric data entry at a minimum of 9,000 keystrokes per hour are required.
- Proficient use of computers and office operating systems required.
- Knowledge of HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) guidelines required.
- Ability to work in a team, organize tasks, and follow multiple standard operating procedures. Some laboratory skills (e.g., barcode scanners) and excellent communication skills are required. A detail-oriented approach and comfort with switching between tasks
- Language Skills: Ability to read, write, and follow laboratory guidelines and procedures. Strong cross-functional communication and relationship-building skills are necessary.
- Physical Requirements: Must be able to sit, talk, and hear regularly, handle dry ice, and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Vision requirements include close, distance, and peripheral vision, along with depth perception.
- Work Environment: The job may involve exposure to mechanical parts, airborne particles, bodily fluids, chemicals, and extreme cold. Noise levels are moderate.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for communicating with physician’s office staff, hospital or lab staff by phone and fax to obtain information for testable, reportable and billable deficiencies caused by incomplete test requisitions.
- Daily receipt, opening of FedEx shipments in commercial CLIA laboratory, and storage of commercial samples.
- Handle biohazardous shipments in a laboratory setting.
- Verify vial information, label vials, paperwork and ensure accurate data entry into the LIMS system.
- Responsible for maintaining assigned geographical sales region to ensure problem resolution within turnaround time guidelines.
- Responsible for order entry with set daily goals; entry of detailed information from test requisition which includes but is not limited to sending account, ordering physician, patient demographics, ICD Code (diagnosis) and payor information.
- Responsible for test verification; verifies that specimen type and collection date meet the requirements of the test ordered.
- Responsible for accepting or cancelling tests and sets order in progress enabling lab to report result.
- Responsible for self-auditing; reviews Order Verification form on completed orders to ensure accuracy of data entered.
- Special departmental projects as assigned.
