This person is responsible for the efficient and compliant handling of air import shipments from origin to destination. This role involves coordinating with various stakeholders, including carriers, customs brokers, and customers, to ensure timely delivery and adherence to regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Shipment Coordination:
- Manage the entire import process, from booking to delivery.
- Coordinate with overseas agents and carriers to ensure smooth shipment movement.
- Prepare and process necessary documentation, including air waybills, commercial invoices, and customs declarations.
- Track and trace shipments to provide timely updates to customers.
- Customs Clearance:
- Collaborate with customs brokers to clear shipments efficiently.
- Ensure compliance with customs regulations and import duties.
- Address customs inquiries and resolve issues promptly.
- Customer Service:
- Provide excellent customer service by responding to inquiries and resolving issues.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers.
- Proactively communicate shipment status and any potential delays.
- Rate Negotiation:
- Negotiate competitive air freight rates with carriers to optimize costs.
- Analyze freight rates and identify opportunities for cost savings.
- Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.
- Implement process improvements to enhance overall performance.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in air import logistics.
- Strong understanding of international trade and customs regulations.
- Proficiency in cargo handling systems and customs clearance software.
