Summary
Our client, a venture funded, sustainable aviation fuel development company based out of Salt Lake City, Utah has engaged GForce Life Sciences to identify a Process Control Engineer. Their novel, one-of-a kind technology allows them to harness energy from biomass and convert it to superior performance aviation fuel. They are a passionate and creative group of engineers, scientists, and visionaries who have since been focused on aviation fuels, with the purpose of creating a sustainable planet, reducing global carbon emissions, and ultimately combatting climate change.
We are seeking a Process Control Engineer to oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of process control systems for their demonstration and commercial facilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of their manufacturing processes while also identifying opportunities for improvement and optimization.
Duties / Expectations of Role
- Develop and implement process control systems, including the design of control strategies, selection of sensors and actuators, and programming of control algorithms.
- Program PLC controllers for efficient operation of equipment.
- Use data historian to collect data and provide it to engineers and scientists.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to process control systems, including equipment failures, software bugs, and communication errors.
- Optimize process control systems to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and minimize downtime.
- Collaborate with other engineers and stakeholders to identify opportunities for process improvements and implement solutions.
- Provide training and support to operators and maintenance personnel on the use of process control systems.
- Keep abreast of industry developments and emerging technologies related to process control systems.
- Monitors and enforces, along with other project teams, the company’s safety and OSHA safety standards to maintain a safe working environment for all employees, subcontractors, and site visitors.
Mandatory Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably in electrical, chemical, or mechanical engineering.
- At least 5 years of experience in process control engineering, with a focus on the design, implementation, and maintenance of control systems (PLC, DCS, HMI).
- Strong knowledge of control theory, including PID control, feedback control, and advanced control techniques.
- Experience with process instrumentation, including sensors, transmitters, and control valves.
- Experience with process control of chemical equipment such as mixers, reactors, and distillation columns.
- Data historian experience.
- Knowledge of communications protocols (Ethernet IP, Modbus, HART).
- Proficiency in programming languages such as MATLAB, Python, or C++.
- Familiarity with regulatory and safety standards related to process control systems, such as ISA S88 and S95, NEC, and NFPA.
- Strong proficiency in engineering software.
