First in role, harmonizing a Materials Function that currently is being handled by different departments in the organization
Responsibilities
Leadership and Collaboration
- Oversees and leads team members to meet key metrics and goals of the department and company. Manages team staffing decisions, performance reviews, feedback, training, and coaching, etc.
- Manages contract agreements, negotiations, and management of contract manufacturers, and suppliers.
- Coordinates with client services and logistics departments to schedule material, supply, and equipment deliveries.
- Collaborates with quality assurance teams to ensure that products meet quality standards.
- Partners with engineering team to determine the materials needed for projects, and research / qualifies vendors.
- Works closely with department managers to analyze demand, sales patterns/forecast, and supplier capabilities.
- Implements corrective actions when quality issues arise.
Inventory & Purchasing
- Manages inventory to ensure deliveries occur timely/within customer deadlines and meet all materials storage requirements.
- Maintains optimum inventory levels.
- Ensure the accuracy of the perpetual inventory system.
- Recommend alternative purchasing options.
- Manage and monitor the storage of purchased parts and finished goods.
- Establish procedures for conducting and valuing year-end physical inventory.
- Oversee cycle counts and corrections.
- Perform change controls and deviations on inventory to reflect accurate values.

Forecasting, Planning, and Supplier Management
- Plan production and scheduling based on forecasts.
- Participate in the SIOP (Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning).
- Evaluate and qualifies suppliers based on delivery speed, price, quality, and ability to meet required standards.
General
- Identify and implement process improvements that include cost savings, transportation efficiencies, etc.
- Responsible for reporting on metrics and attainment.
- Supports ERP implementation.
- Perform additional projects and duties as assigned to benefit the organization.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in logistics, operations, supply chain management, business or other relevant field, or equivalent experience required.
- A minimum of 6-10 years’ experience in materials management, must have experience in medical devices and/or pharmaceutical industries.
- Experience with launching new products for market.
- Proficient with inventory reporting systems and ERP systems.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated problem solving skills and working under tight deadlines, and ability to multi-task.
- Effective communication and presentation skills.
- Strong negotiating skills with knowledge of tactical and strategic purchasing.
- Advanced knowledge of supply chain cycle, demand forecasting, business drivers, and budgeting processes.
