Our client is a large, privately held manufacturer in the Greater Grand Rapids area. They are an industry-leader in manufacturing residential and commercial products and looking for a Sr. Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Manager to join their team and make an immediate impact!
The Sr. Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Manager will be responsible for the overall technical direction of the Advanced Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering teams. Primary responsibilities include project formation and execution to support new product/ program introduction, on-going manufacturing effectiveness, and large capital equipment installations. This role will provide guidance and leadership in the acquisition and deployment of capital equipment and general manufacturing process solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for leading a team of Engineers in developing manufacturing processes, specifications, and documentation.
- Selects, evaluates, and leads cross-functional teams in the design, development and deployment of new manufacturing equipment, automated work cells, assembly lines and other manufacturing equipment.
- Collaborates with New Product Development (NPD) to assess product requirements to ensure compatibility of processing methods.
- Oversees the concept, design, and build of capital equipment solutions including vendor site equipment prove-outs, buy-off, definition of spare parts requirements, suggested preventative maintenance, general work instructions, assignment of asset numbers, and equipment bill of materials.
- Ensures implementation of projects for expanding and/or modifying the production lines
- Confirms project process flow to determine what capital equipment may be required.
- Plans, prioritizes, and manages multiple engineering projects; prioritizes tasks and ensures that the team's overall resources are used effectively and that project deadlines are met.
- Reviews and approves recommendations for capital equipment acquisition.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field required.
- 10-15 years of experience in a fast paced, customer focused manufacturing environment
- 5-7 years of experience in a people leading capacity.
- Demonstrated project management experience focused on concepting, quoting and deployment of custom automation equipment on time and to target requirements.
- Experience managing projects to automate manual manufacturing processes to reduce labor, improve quality, and improve throughput.
- Knowledge of stamping, manual welding, robotic welding, powder coating, material handling automation, robotics, sheet metal processing and assembly automation preferred.
- Ability to coordinate and manage multi-functional projects through structured Project Management principles.
