Please note: the schedule for this position starts on 1st shift from January - July and then transitions to 2nd shift from July - December. Forklift certification a plus.
Overview of Job Description:
Key responsibilities include supporting Production while promoting and compliance of safety policies, monitoring employee attendance and performance, building effective work teams and reporting on completed tasks. Establish departmental goals and objectives and follow through with supporting tasks. Supervise and allocate employees effectively throughout the shift. This position may include additional duties and tasks as assigned. Position must be able to work second shift and weekends as needed.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise multiple departments to ensure smooth flow of materials throughout warehouse.
- Enforce company safety programs.
- Work closely with Warehouse management team and staff to achieve the goals of the department within deadlines.
- Determine staff requirements for department and request support, when needed.
- Distribute appropriate workload to employees.
- Manage and control Inventory. Investigate and report discrepancies.
- Ensure compliance of company policies.
- Identify opportunities for improved efficiency and cost savings; suggest, develop, plan and implement new processes.
- Enforce all company policies and issue corrective actions as necessary.
- Identify and implement changes agreed upon with the Warehouse management team
- Train and develop each employee to the standards of their job description.
Administrative and Other Responsibilities:
- Maintain organized status of pending tasks and communicate updates to manager.
- Submit departmental reports as assigned by manager.
- Must adhere to all company policies and safety procedures.
- Must ensure all work areas and pedestrian walkways are neat and clutter-free at all times.
- Execution of departmental goals and objectives
- Enforce company rules and regulations.
- Assist Management team in review weekly punch reports.
- Supervise daily attendance of warehouse team.
- Write reviews for permanent employees
- Write incident reports as necessary
- Write and issue Corrective Action reports as necessary
- Interact with other team members and departments including Production, Packaging, Receiving, Shipping, Compliance, Document Control and Wine Country Gift Baskets teams.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- WMS knowledge, preferably ASC Trac
- ERP knowledge, preferably Macola
- English skills required, verbal, writing and reading
- Must have basic math skills and be able to use a calculator
- Computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Supervising and Training skills
- Organizational and communication skills, written and verbal.
- Must have the ability to problem solve, identify root causes, prioritize tasks, direct others and work well under pressure
- Must demonstrate leadership skills including ability to effectively coach individual team members.
- Must model and promote the company values and philosophy.
- Bilingual (Spanish)
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma
- 4 years warehouse management experience. Production environment a plus.
- Experience operating MHE, including sit down forklifts and reach trucks.
