POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Content Editor translates the brand positioning into seasonal voice for all platforms: digital, print, social. The Senior Content Editor contributes to seasonal concepts and the effective execution of all brand copy ensuring a consistent, unified voice in all communication. The Senior Content Editor is responsible for writing and/or editing all copy from product to editorial to marketing and incorporating the brand voice in all media including web, email, social, print and marketing collateral. Directs the writing of all product copy for web and book, and ensures copy adheres to set style guides and standards of accuracy. Generates and edits copy under extremely tight deadlines.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Partners with VP, Content and/or Content Director to frame seasonal concepts, calendars and media point of view.
- Leads in-season copy development from product copy to editorial, working at all stages from design integration to copy release.
- Executes seasonal content direction with a thorough understanding of product offering.
- Contributes to story development, pagination and digital product curation in merchant turnover meetings and creative reviews.
- Crafts effective messages that combine emotion and promotion and successfully meet marketing and merchandising objectives.
- Works closely with art directors to ensure all copy is integrated into design for digital and print.
- Actively partners with the account team and meets all deadline requirements.
- Writes or directs all web copy including site updates, email campaigns and digital advertising.
- Writes or directs all copy pertaining to contests, promotions and other activities generated as a result of Marketing or Public Relations initiatives.
- Leads the partnership with marketing in regard to SEO, subject line best practices and other business developments that affect the content team ensuring all best practices are communicated.
- Continually assesses product copy to ensure the most relevant and brand-building content, develops refinements, and trains writers.
- Ensures copy accuracy as related to brand style guides.
- May oversee copywriters ensuring adherence to brand copy voice, all copy deadlines and accuracy standards.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, Creative Writing or related field
- 8-10 years writing/editorial experience preferably in fashion retail
- Ability to develop content for web, email, social, print, digital advertising and all customer-facing portals
- Knowledge of digital and print publishing processes as well as layout design fundamentals for each
- An avid reader and consumer, familiar with fashion brands, fashion magazines, blogs, and up to speed with social media trends
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) for effective interaction with all
- levels of company management and personnel
- Strong collaboration skills and attention to detail
- Candidates must have working knowledge of and be able to work in InDesign and Photoshop.
