Position Overview:
As a core member of the Manufacturing Team, this person will drive the Lean transformation and quality improvement initiatives in manufacturing by ensuring strategies are implemented and principles/practices/tools are incorporated into the manufacturing processes. This position will also work with cross-functional teams to drive process improvements. This position implements, tracks, and supports actions that bring about improvements which may include, but are not limited to safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and productivity.
Essential activities of this position:
- To support the Manufacturing Manager in implementing Lean transformation and continuous improvement that leads to safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and productivity across the manufacturing organization:
- Leading/participating in Gemba walks, and kaizens, supporting employees on continuous improvement, standard work, flow, takt time attainment, and problem-solving abnormalities causing takt misses.
- Develop and improve Assembly visual work aids
- Leads and maintains opportunity tracker from opportunities identified on Gemba walks.
- Prioritize Projects and their execution in alignment with business needs
- Working and escalating with necessary personnel to identify, address, and eliminate process-related obstacles
- Obtaining required fixtures, tools, work aids, poke yokes to support workplace changes
- Conduct cycle time analyses, time studies, line balance improvements, and workplace improvements
- Creating and implementing standard work, and teaching/coaching line leaders to do the same
- Implementing/coaching the use of cell control boards and other visual management tools
- Implementing and maintaining lean disciplines and 5-S to internal processes,
- Support on-site audits and continuous improvement and cost-reduction projects at the site
- Other duties as identified by the Manufacturing Manager are to improve the site’s Lean Manufacturing practices further.
Qualifications of this position:
- Associate or Bachelor of Science degree or related discipline desired (Equivalent education/training / or experience will be considered instead of a formal degree)
- Experience working in a world-class Lean working environment is highly preferred
- Certified in Green Belt Lean Six Sigma
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing concepts and continuous improvement-based tools and techniques is highly preferred
- Ability to interpret 3D Models, schematics, and Drawings
- Ability to use statistical and graphical tools such as Pareto analysis
Experience managing complex assemblies’ processes for the following commodities is a must:
- Sheet Metal Fabrication (frames, enclosures, panels…etc.) models and drawings
- Machine Parts models and drawings
- Wire harness schematics and models
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals and technical procedures.
- Ability to write reports, general business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to create standard work documents, operational procedures, and visual work aids
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from associates, supervisors, and managers
