About the Role:
A distinguished Chicago Loop law firm is seeking a Litigation Legal Assistant/Paralegal committed to delivering top-quality assistance in the legal field. The ideal candidate has 3-5 years of experience with a solid understanding of the litigation process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, cite-check, proof, and finalize legal documents, including but not limited to depositions, pleadings, motions, and briefs, including drafting Tables of Contents and Tables of Authorities.
- Coordinate, prepare and assist with drafting motions, affidavits, discovery, pro hac vice and out-of-state attorney admissions.
- Collaborate with attorneys to manage law proceedings such as depositions, hearings, trials, and mediations.
- Conduct extensive legal research, summarize legal documents, and case information.
- Assist in the coordination of service of summonses and subpoenas.
- Help with the effective management of the firm's case files, calendar, and docketing system, ensuring key dates and deadlines are tracked and met.
- Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, court staff, and other legal professionals.
- Conduct all work with high attention to detail, ensuring all tasks are completed accurately and within given time frames.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in legal studies or a related field.
- Paralegal certification is strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a litigation paralegal.
- Proficient in legal research software, e.g., Westlaw or LexisNexis.
- Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written.
- Outstanding organizational and multitasking skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other legal software platforms.
- Knowledge of federal and state court processes, rules, and terms.
