Analog Photonics is a fast-growing silicon photonic technology startup known for making the world's best optical phased arrays. We use our proprietary silicon photonic platform to serve the automotive LiDAR and data communications markets with innovative, chip-scale solutions.
We’re seeking a self-starting Senior Embedded Software engineer for our automotive LiDAR business area. You will be responsible for designing and implementing the system's control logic, developing digital signal processing (DSP) algorithms, writing device control interfaces, and designing the broader architecture of the system. You will work closely with the CMOS engineers, photonics engineers, electrical engineers, system engineers, and firmware engineers to design and bring up the FPGA and microprocessors that make our LiDAR system function. You will have the opportunity to put your designs in the hands of customers by driving your firmware and software through the entire design and test lifecycle.
Join our team if you are
- interested in working in a fast-growing early-stage startup
- enthusiastic about working on disruptive silicon photonics to shape the automotive LiDAR space
- a team player who thrives working in a dynamic environment
Job Requirements
- Minimum 2 years' experience in C or C++ for standalone microcontroller or embedded microprocessor in FPGA
- Comfortable integrating, testing, and debugging the firmware you design
- Experience developing electronics hardware architectures
- Must be proficient in a HDL language: Verilog or VHDL
- Motivated to work in a multidisciplinary team including systems, electrical, photonics and CMOS engineers
- Strong problem-solving skills, self-motivated, and dependable
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills
- BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering with 4+ years' experience / MS with 2+ years' experience
The ideal candidate will have experiences in several of these areas:
- Experience in debugging and testing printed circuit boards for DACs/ADCs, noise-sensitive analog circuits, and digital electronics such as FPGAs and microcontrollers
- Creation of HDL-based test benches. System Verilog, high-level language simulation environment a plus
- Experience in using Vendor debugging tools (such as Xilinx ILA) and design of synthesizable test code and traps
- Experience in digital logic design for FPGA or ASIC
- FPGA System on a Chip (SoC) architecture definition and partitioning, algorithm implementation, HW/SW interfaces, PCB interfaces, and design for in-system test
- Able to adapt and iterate on designs based on measurements from hardware
- Comfortable working with both analog and digital electronics
- A working knowledge of digital and analog filter design
- Experience with control systems is not mandatory but preferred
- Working knowledge of MATLAB desirable
- Knowledge of Xilinx design tools is preferred but not essential
