The primary area of emphasis of the IT TPM role is to act in the capacity of a technical project manager who will plan, establish, and manage technical projects and will serve as a liaison between the business and technical aspects of assigned projects. They align projects with customer needs and requirements, construct detailed work plans, achieve milestones, and communicate the results across a stakeholder audience. They organize projects with the goal of completing them on time and within budget. The IT TPM is knowledgeable and capable of supporting and maintaining business applications and infrastructure, as well as identify and implement projects for improvements and simplification.
Services:
Project Management support for IT initiatives and ITW Corporate IT directives.
- Manages assigned technical projects to ensure adherence to budget, schedule, and scope of project.
- Develops, maintains, and revises proposals for assigned projects including project objectives, technologies, systems, information specifications, timelines, funding, and resources. Facilitates gathering and validation of project requirements.
- Sets and tracks project milestones; manages and accounts for unforeseen delays, then realigns schedules and expectations as needed. Analyzes risks and provides regular updates to IT Manager regarding projects status and any problems or potential problems. Takes proactive steps to minimize delays.
- Establishes and implements project communication plans, providing status updates to affected staff and stakeholders. Regularly communicates with project teams to arrange meetings, confirm project schedules, and discuss any project problems. Develops and communicates detailed specifications for implementation. Negotiates plans and time limits, ensures that stakeholders understand the anticipated results.
- Collects, analyzes, and summarizes information and trends as needed to prepare project status reports. Analyzes project progress and, when necessary, adapts timelines to achieve maximum benefit.
- Creates and maintains comprehensive project management documentation.
Maintains focus on continuous improvement by applying 80/20, PLS, and USa principles/techniques and make process improvement recommendations to management.
Applications: ERP, CRM, Reporting, and other primary or integrated solutions.
- Interact with vendors to support delivery, sustainability, and compliance of IT solutions to company stakeholders.
- Provide department specific support for these applications and/or projects during implementation, maintenance, and compliance.
Infrastructure: Servers & Storage, Networking, Wireless, Remote Access, Virtualization.
- Maintain and oversee all aspects of the division infrastructure including upgrade and installation of new hardware and software.
- Troubleshoot problems with systems and programs.
Security & Compliance: Backup & Recovery, Incident Response, Awareness, Vulnerability, End Point.
- Maintain and support IT systems with emphasis on security and vulnerability remediation.
- Ensure compliance with ITW BRAVE, IT Policy, and IT Hygiene.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in: Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Business, or related areas and/or equivalent experience.
- Certifications preferred: A+, Network+, Security+, Project+
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.
Experience/Skills:
- 5 years of experience working in IT or related fields of study; 2-3 years of related project management experience preferred, including: budgeting, scheduling, and exercising strong time management skills.
- Effective communication, organizational and critical thinking skills.
- Thorough understanding of information technology procedures and practices. PC troubleshooting and networking knowledge.
- Extremely proficient with Microsoft Office and productivity suites; Able to quickly become proficient with a range of general and specialized applications, software, and hardware used in the organization and the industry.
- Knowledge and experience using project management software and thorough understanding of project management principles and planning.
- Excellent analytical, logical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Organized with great attention to detail.
- Ability to adapt to change.
- Ability to contribute as a team player.
