Job Title: Medical Administrative Assistant (Bilingual English/Spanish)
Location: San Ysidro, CA (Onsite)
Duration: Temporary to hire (contingent on performance and business needs)
Pay: $25 - $30 per hour (Depending on Experience)
Position Overview:
Manpower is partnering with a client to find a dedicated Referrals Specialist. This role involves efficiently managing, processing, and following up on e-faxes in referral folders while maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process e-faxes promptly with careful attention to quality, accuracy, and completeness, ensuring tasks are finished within set timelines.
- Screen incoming e-faxes, upload documents to the EHR system, notify referring providers, update referral records, and follow up as necessary. Forward copies to the Health Information Systems (HIS) department.
- Respond to inquiries regarding the status of faxes by evaluating and assessing the situation, and providing regular, clear updates.
- Close referral loops by reviewing the referral log weekly to confirm patients attended their specialist or consultation appointments.
- Update referrals with the date and time of appointments and document attendance. Follow up with specialists or facilities to request visit notes or results to be e-faxed within five business days of the visit, as needed.
- Display professionalism in both verbal and non-verbal interactions.
- Actively listen to internal and external customers, addressing their needs with accountability and responsiveness.

Qualifications:
Experience and Skills:
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) with strong verbal and written communication skills in both languages.
- At least 6 months of experience in a healthcare setting, including front and back office or referral authorization experience.
- Familiarity with health plan eligibility, coding, data processing, and relevant programs is a plus.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology and proficiency with computers.
- Typing speed of at least 35 wpm.
- Ability to multitask and respond to patient needs effectively.
- Strong team player, willing to collaborate with others.
Education:
- High School Diploma/GED, or at least 3 years of relevant experience in lieu of a diploma.
Certifications/Licenses:
- Valid CA driver’s license with access to an insured vehicle.
