An AS9100-certified aerospace manufacturer is seeking an experienced Machine Shop / Production Manager to oversee our precision CNC machining operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in CNC programming, machining processes, sheet metal manufacturing, and team leadership. This role requires a combination of technical expertise and the ability to manage production while maintaining the highest quality standards in aerospace manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Production Oversight: Manage daily operations on the shop floor, including scheduling, resource allocation, and production flow to ensure on-time delivery of high-precision aerospace parts.
- Leadership & Team Management: Lead and mentor a team of CNC programmers, machinists, and operators. Build a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and collaboration.
- CNC Programming & Machining: Oversee CNC programming for 3- and 4-axis machines, including Haas and Hurco models. Support programming efforts using Mastercam, BobCAD/CAM, and assist with setup for production.
- Quality Control: Ensure compliance with AS9100 and ISO 9001:2015 standards. Maintain precision machining standards to tolerances of 1-2000ths of an inch.
- Sheet Metal Expertise: Manage production involving sheet metal fabrication and other relevant manufacturing processes for aerospace components.
- Machine Setup & Maintenance: Supervise setup, calibration, and troubleshooting of CNC machines. Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure optimal machine performance and uptime.
- Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret complex blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications. Ensure programming and setups align with the required specifications.
- MRP System Management: Utilize MRP software, to manage production schedules, inventory, and workflow.
- Process Improvement: Lead efforts in optimizing production efficiency, minimizing waste, and improving throughput to support a lean manufacturing environment.
- Customer Interaction: Communicate effectively with clients and upper management to meet project goals, provide updates, and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
Qualifications:
- Education: Engineering degree or relevant technical/vocational education; equivalent experience will be considered.
- 5-7 years in CNC machining and programming, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Hands-on machining experience with a strong understanding of setups, programming, and precision machining.
- Experience with sheet metal fabrication processes.
- Software Proficiency:
- Mastercam, BobCAD/CAM, and SolidWorks.
- Experience with JobBOSS (Rev 18) or similar MRP systems.
Skills:
- Proven leadership and team management abilities.
- In-depth knowledge of CNC machine operation, setup, and programming.
- Familiarity with 1-2000th tolerance precision machining.
- Strong problem-solving skills for technical and operational challenges.
- Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and blueprints.
