As the firm continues to grow, they are seeking a talented Bilingual Legal Assistant to join the Oakland location.
We are looking for a skilled Bilingual Legal Assistant fluent in Spanish and English to provide administrative and clerical support to our legal team. The ideal candidate will have a solid legal background and possess strong communication skills in both languages. This role requires attention to detail, organizational abilities, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Translate at client meetings to prepare for depositions, mediations, and trials between Spanish and English.
- File and serve legal documents with courts (state, federal, and appellate).
- Independently draft complaints, discovery, motions, and court notices.
- Prepare exhibits for hearings and trials (highlight, redact, cite).
- Prepare stipulations, hearing notices, subpoenas, deposition notices, objections to deposition notices and other legal documents.
- Organize and maintain electronic case files and documents.
- Observe confidentiality of attorney-client relationships; maintain excellent public relations with clients.
- Schedule appointments, meetings, and court hearings for attorneys.
Requirements:
- Fluency in both Spanish and English (written and verbal) is essential.
- Previous experience working as a Legal Assistant or in a similar role within the legal field.
- Strong knowledge of legal terminology and procedures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research tools.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in all work performed.
- Associate's degree or higher in Legal Studies, Paralegal Studies, or a related field is preferred.
