Duties
We are looking for an Accountant to join our team in our Bala Cynwyd, PA office! This individual will work under the guidance of the Senior Accountant and assist with the financial transactions within the department. An ideal candidate must be able to multitask and work collectively with inter department personnel as well as accounting and finance at Tokio Marine North America (TMNA) to ensure accuracy for all financial transactions.
- Maintains records of department’s financial activities in accordance with GAAP, organizational standards, and in compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX).
- Responsible for the handling and the documentation of all accounts receivable and accounts payable for the department.
- Monitors the departments operating and premium bank accounts and the handling of cash flows to and from the department.
- Maintains vendor information in AIM Agency Management software for billing and future business purposes.
- Assists New Business Brokers and Account Associates in the servicing of endorsements and policy change transactions.
- Responds to inquiries from internal and external customers in a timely manner.
- Works collectively with TMNA on the handling of all Valley Forge Insurance Brokers (VFIB) premium transactions. This includes, but is not limited to, entering cash transactions in ledgers, reconciling cash reports and preparing bank deposits.
- Gathers and analyzes accounting information and applies appropriate techniques necessary to make an accurate evaluation of payment.
- Receives and processes commissions being paid out to our retail agents and completes regular balancing and collecting of commissions past due. Requires frequent communication with Agents, Account Executives, Brokers, and TMNA to research and resolve payment issues.
- Assists the Senior Accountant with month-end, quarter -end, and year-end closing activities, including preparing the appropriate audit work papers for such activities for review with Brokerage Manager and TMNA.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
- Strong knowledge of general bookkeeping
Preferred
- Knowledge of AMS/Vertafore Agency Management System
- Experience with SAP
- Experience with online banking (including processing incoming ACH/Wire/Credit Card payments; outgoing ACH/Wire payments; interbank transfers)
