Our client is a chemicals corporation. Hybrid role where you work downtown Houston (paid parking) for three days and work from home on Mondays and Fridays. If a meeting is required on a Monday or Friday you may still have to go into the office.
This role is a long term contract role with the potential to go permanent. You will work in a cohesive and organized supply chain team and work for a category manager and director of strategic sourcing.
***Hourly rate is up to $46 an hour or equivalent to $95,000 annually. Benefits offered after 60 days.
The Sourcing Buyer/Rental equipment is a key role , responsible for both the efficient management and optimization of rental equipment and processes and the strategic procurement of services and materials at the direction of the Category Manager. This position reports directly to the Category Manager and requires a blend of technical, analytical, and communication skills to support safe and reliable operations. The role involves deploying procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, coordinating the rental process, and ensuring equipment is maintained, available, and optimally utilized. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with standards, optimize processes, and deliver value through cost savings and effective resource management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Rental Process Management:
- Coordinate equipment reservations and rental agreements, ensuring optimal scheduling for deliveries and pickups to minimize costs.
- Monitor equipment availability, inventory levels, and maintenance schedules, coordinating with suppliers and stakeholders to ensure equipment readiness and optimal
- Track equipment inventory, adjust levels as needed in coordination with suppliers and the Category Manager, and conduct regular inventory audits.
- Consolidate rentals under preferred supplier agreements and establish processes that minimize rental leakages to non-preferred suppliers.
- Analyze rental data and trends to recommend and design processes that maximize equipment usage, minimize costs, and deliver the best overall value .
- Maintain accurate rental records and documentation, providing regular status updates and generating reports on rental activity, equipment utilization, and costs.
- Share insights with management to optimize rental operations and ensure compliance with standards and regulatory requirements.
- Establish and report on KPIs on the optimization of the rental process and rental
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to schedule routine inspections and maintenance with suppliers, promptly addressing any performance concerns.
- Sourcing Buyer: Support and deploy Category Management procurement strategies under the direction of the Category Manager.
- Prepare and manage bid packages, conduct bid events (RFPs/RFQs/RFx), and engage in sourcing and contracting with integrity.
- Define stakeholder requirements accurately, ensuring supplier adherence to the agreed
- Negotiate redlines, commercial terms, and agreements, applying insights from previous
- Provide analytical support to monitor spend activity, identify contract leakage, and report critical metrics to assist in category management.
- Consistently deliver value through cost savings, cost avoidance, and minimizing total “life cycle” costs.
