POSITION OVERVIEW
The Construction Coordinator reports directly to the Construction Supervisor and is responsible for the oversight of the day-to-day activities of the site construction team. This oversight includes all aspects of the project construction activities to ensure adherence to the Company’s contract terms and other regulations that provide safe, reliable, optimized, and cost-effective facility construction. The Construction Coordinator will be assigned to oversee a construction area and over multiple related Discipline within their areas of expertise.
KNOWLEDGE
Understanding all facets of industrial construction. The Construction Coordinator must understand human resources and industrial relations policies, processes, and employee relations principles. A high level of health, safety, security and environmental (HSSE) awareness is required. Must have a high level of understanding of codes and standards related to the facility construction to ensure quality requirements are being met. Ability to read and understand construction documents including specifications, procedures, and physical drawings for civil, structural, piping, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Construction planning support
Scheduling, coordination, and measurement of construction activities
Monitor and analyze EPC Contractor’s progress, productivity, schedule, craft staffing, material management, logistics, commissioning, and safety objectives and provide feedback.
Support the EPC contractor and subcontractors to make certain that:
Policies and practices concerning site safety and environmental regulations are implemented, routinely communicated, and enforced.
Materials, equipment, and services conform to contractual requirements.
Construction execution is meeting safety, cost, schedule, and productivity targets.
QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS)
Education and Certifications: Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering or technical field related to construction is preferred. Equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be
considered with demonstrable experience in operations, engineering, maintenance, construction management and leadership. Certification from recognized management or technical training programs are preferred.
Experience: 10 plus years’ experience with major ($150MM or greater) construction projects including a minimum of 5 years in a supervisor position in the oil and gas industry.
Skills:
Strong leadership and effective management and organizational skills are required of the Construction Coordinator.
An acute sensitivity to safety issues and ability to identify hazardous conditions.
Effective communicator at all levels of an organization and with individuals and groups from different disciplines, industries, and governmental agencies.
Ability to work both independently with little direction and as a member of a team.
Ability to research an issue, collect data, establish facts, and report findings to management.
Organized and able to manage multiple activities and programs simultaneously.
WORK CONDITIONS
Must be willing to work at the construction site location.
Required to be available for work on weekends and after hours.
Required to stand, walk, sit, climb stairs, work at height above ground on stairs and catwalks, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk or hear, smell, type and write.
Required to work indoors and outdoors and will be exposed to year-round weather conditions ocean environment, noise, and occasionally process gases and vapors.
Required to have specific vision abilities including close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and to adjust focus.
