The Role
We are looking for an engineer to join our founding team in person in San Francisco! This isn’t just another engineering role. You will be part of the founding team of a rising YC startup, have real ownership over the product and play a key role in shaping both the product and company direction as we grow.
As a founding engineer, you will:
- Core AI: This includes building multi-agent systems, RAG pipelines, model fine-tuning, etc.
- Backend Generalist: In addition to core, you will develop product features to create an outstanding user experience.
- Full Ownership: Take full ownership of your work and its impact.
- Be in the Trenches: It’s not all sunshine and roses. You sit side-by-side with the founders to tackle all the challenges together.
About You
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Backend generalist (Python, Typescript, vector db, AWS) with applied AI/LLM experience.
- Willing to work in person in San Francisco.
- Bonus: Startup experience and comfortable with a fast pace.
Your First Month
- Week 1: Set up Duckie, learn the product, and tackle small tasks. Scope your first project with the founders.
- Week 2: Talk design and architecture with the CTO. Crank out that project. Fast experiments and adapt quickly.
- Week 3: Continue the building til complete. Test, QA, document, and prepare launch material. Go-live and track adoption. See what breaks and fix it.
- Week 4: Talk to users, get their feedback, and scope out improvements and iteration to make people absolutely love this feature even more.
