Generac Clean Energy Solutions seeks a talented Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) Lab Technician Intern to help support daily actives. This position is a mix of physical and desk/lab bench activities.
Physical activities include moving products to designated areas to maintain shelf space, moving products to recycle, deconstructing equipment to harvest usable parts, moving lithium-ion batteries weighing 50-60lbs (with assistance mechanical or human). Bench activities include logging returned equipment into an in-house tracking system, basic screening of returned equipment, collecting data for various lab tests.
The ideal candidate will be willing to work in a fast-paced, hands-on environment; has good attention to detail, has a passion for technology and renewable energy; and a willingness to take on new areas of responsibility with a can-do positive attitude.
This position is located in South Portland, Maine.
Responsibilities
- Assist in lab organization, cleanup and equipment maintenance.
- Assist with product inventory management.
- Assist with processing, screening, and debugging of field returns.
- Work with supply chain technician and RMA personnel to unbox, process and ship lithium-ion batteries.
- Support in building and assembling test stations, bench test setups and fixtures.
- Collect test result data for various electrical tests.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma.
- Actively enrolled in a 2- or 4- year electrical engineering or engineering technology program.
- A ‘can-do’ positive attitude.
- Attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Understanding of basic electrical concepts.
- Read and interpret electrical and electronic schematics.
- Operate electrical test and measurement tools such as digital volt meters, oscilloscopes and power supplies.
- Experience with data collection and laboratory notebook record keeping.
- Experience working in a professional work environment.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend, or reach above the shoulders. The employee must routinely lift up to 30 pounds.
The employee will routinely assist with lifting lithium-ion batteries weighing 50-60lbs (typically a team lift and/or using carts/scissor lifts). Specific conditions of this job include are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Travel is minimal to none.
