Great opportunity for an Automation Design Engineering Manager to work for a global Manufacturing leader located in Savannah, GA.
Our client is a world leader in transportation/trucking manufacturing looking for an Engineering Manager to be responsible for the management and technical leadership necessary to achieve long range automation goals throughout the organization.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a team of engineers and technicians needed in the development of in-house automation equipment and fixturing.
- Responsible for ROI relating to automated equipment and processes. Manages the capital budgets by proposing and justifying equipment costs.
- Interact with plant level Manufacturing Engineering departments to determine needs and develop equipment.
- Develop and oversee prototype automation equipment for assembly processes.
- Vet ideas, lead, and participate in projects from concept to implementation and commissioning.
- Determine equipment requirements, design specs, and component selection.
- Implement new and revised technologies to improve quality and productivity.
- Types of projects include equipment replacement/upgrade, new application of technologies, and process and equipment development.
- Solicits and negotiates bids from outside contractors and vendors. Supervises the completion of projects by outside contractors.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar
- 5+ years' of Automation Design Engineering experience
- In depth knowledge of mechanical and electro-mechanical systems
- Technical knowledge in mechanical design
- Technical knowledge in machine function, PLC, servo drives, and electronic systems
