ReFocus AI helps insurance professionals create better relationships with their customers to ensure more renewals. We are a growing, revenue-generating startup run by two co-founders since 2019, and we are looking for a Chief Technology Officer to join our newly created engineering team.
As our first leadership hire, you will work closely with the co-founders and lead the engineering team to build infrastructure, data pipelines, and web applications to support machine learning models. In this role, you will have the opportunity to play a crucial part in shaping the future of our company.

Responsibilities
- Lead the strategy for technology platforms, partnerships, and external relationships.
- Create timelines for the development and deployment of all technological services.
- Make executive decisions on behalf of the company's technological requirements.
- Act as a mentor to team members.
- Set and monitor KPIs & IT budgets to assess technological performance.
- Communicate technology strategy to partners and investors.
- Create overall technology standards and practices and ensure adherence.
- Keep abreast of new trends and best practices in the technology landscape.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years designing, building, and maintaining complex web applications, with at least 2+ years as a full-stack developer.
- 5+ years developing code in Python, Java, and Javascript.
- 2+ years in an IT leadership position or past CTO experience.
- 3+ years deploying code through containerization and CI/CD to AWS.
- 2+ years supporting the deployment of new machine learning algorithms and architectures to the cloud.
- Ability to lead the development of web-based services and deploy applications to the cloud.
Education & Experience: Possess an MS in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field.
Remote work: This job is primarily remote, with occasional in-person meetings.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2 years of experience with ETL platforms such as Mulesoft and AWS Glue.
- 2 years of experience deploying machine learning models on AWS.
- Familiar with NextJS and PostgreSQL.
- Cloud Architect AWS Certification
- Past role with SCRUM or product owner responsibilities.
