Job Summary:
Completes all engineering and related activities including programs, projects, processes, and designs.
The primary functions include APQP, design control, process control, lean manufacturing and installation and maintenance of manufacturing software to adequately program equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conducts part programming on water jet cutting machines.
- Quotes new products and assists in writing work instructions.
- Coordinates activities with various other departments to install, design, operate, and modify new products, equipment, and tooling.
- Completes all projects and design activities within schedule and budget.
- Manages and delegates appropriate QMS/EMS Management System activities within departments.
- Costing and estimating product and production tooling for key programs.
- Works in cross functional teams.
- Employs strong Project Management skills ideally in an environment that utilizes Stage-gate principals.
- Confers with management, production, and sales staff to discuss project specifications and procedures.
- Performs administrative functions such as drafting reports.
- Sustains cost reduction initiatives and cost of quality measurables.
- Participates, and may lead, on VSM, Lean, 6 Sigma, DOE, SMED, FMEAs, and Controls Plans.
Qualifications/Skills/Experience Required:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering with minimum 5 years’ experience in manufacturing settings.
- Background in rubber processing, extrusion, and molding.
- Demonstrates excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, root cause analysis and risk assessments with a strong attention to detail.
- CAD experience with 3D/2D software packages
- Experience in FANUC software and/or programming.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Coordinates and directs multiple projects.
- Works well with internal and external customers.
- Possesses strong analytical approach to problem solving to deliver innovative solutions.
- Possesses ability to work well with all management levels and between all departments.
