We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Desktop Support Technician to join our IT support team. This role is essential in providing exceptional customer service and technical assistance to end-users, ensuring the smooth operation of IT infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate effectively with users at all levels. This is a 6 month contract opportunity. Candidates must be willing to come on-site 2 times a week in Newark, DE.
Responsibilities
- Application Packaging & Deployment: Create and manage application packages for deployment using SCCM (System Center Configuration Manager) and Microsoft Intune. Ensure software is properly configured and distributed across client environments.
- Imaging & Deployment: Develop and maintain desktop images for various operating systems and configurations. Deploy these images efficiently to new and existing systems while adhering to client requirements and best practices.
- Software/Hardware Inventory Control: Implement and maintain software and hardware inventory tracking systems. Regularly update and manage inventory databases to ensure accurate and up-to-date information.
- Patch Management & Reporting: Oversee patch management processes, including the deployment and verification of updates and patches. Generate detailed reports on patch status, compliance, and any issues encountered.
- Client Consultation & Support: Collaborate with clients to understand their IT needs and challenges. Provide expert advice and support on desktop environment management, troubleshooting, and optimization.
- Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for processes, configurations, and deployments. Ensure all procedures are clearly documented and easily accessible for future reference.
- Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution: Diagnose and resolve complex issues related to desktop environments, including hardware, software, and network problems.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Proven experience in a similar desktop engineering role, with a strong background in managing and deploying desktop environments using Intune and SCCM.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Intune and SCCM for application management and deployment.
- Experience in creating and deploying desktop images.
- Knowledge of software and hardware inventory management.
- Ability to generate and interpret patch management reports.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate) are a plus.
- Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities, strong communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
