Amundsen Davis, a full-service business and litigation law firm, is seeking an experienced Applications Manager to manage and support all business applications. This position will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, update, and maintain robust and secure application solutions that align with the Firm's business objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities
Application Management and Support
- Manage and provide technical support for legal-specific applications, including Document Management Solutions (DMS), Practice/Financial Management Solutions, Risk Management Solutions, and other critical software.
- Monitor application performance, conduct regular audits, and implement initiative-taking measures to optimize performance and minimize downtime.
- Management of the Applications Team (direct reports) including recruitment, mentoring and performance management with a focus on professional development, knowledge sharing and documentation of procedures and application functionality.
- Collaborate with end-users to understand their requirements, troubleshoot issues, and deliver effective solutions within established service levels.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify opportunities for improvement, implement upgrades, and customize solutions to meet evolving business needs.
- Stay updated with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in legal applications and systems.
Solution Design and Implementation
- Gather requirements, design application solutions, and develop technical specifications in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Customize and configure legal-specific applications to meet the firm's needs and ensure seamless integration with existing systems.
- Develop and maintain application interfaces, workflows, and integrations to facilitate efficient data exchange and process automation.
- Conduct comprehensive testing, debugging, and documentation of application enhancements, modifications and integrations.
Project Management and Collaboration
- Collaborate with stakeholders, end users, cross-functional teams, and IT team members to define project requirements and deliver application solutions within agreed timelines and budgets.
- Participate in project planning, resource allocation, and risk mitigation activities.
- Communicate project progress, risks, and issues to stakeholders, and propose effective solutions or workarounds when needed.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams, such as legal, finance, and operations, to ensure seamless integration of applications and systems.
- Facilitate vendor product/solution demos for business stakeholders and manage pilots/POC initiatives.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications are a plus (e.g., PMP, ITIL).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Applications Engineer, with a focus on legal or professional services firms.
- Strong expertise in legal-specific applications
- Document Management Solutions (DMS), Practice/Financial Management Solutions and Risk Management Solutions.
- Project management experience, including the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Management or supervisor experience.
