Job Summary:
Experienced professional with proficient knowledge of Gear Making and practical knowledge of Project Management. Communicates with team and contacts inside and outside of own department and facility to explain and interpret operational gear making processes, practices, and procedures. Recommends enhancements to systems and processes. Works to achieve operational targets for specific programs and projects with moderate impact on departmental results.
Essential Functions:
- Develops manufacturing strategies for specific products and processes.
- Actively participates with engineering project teams in order to coordinate the release of new products
- Estimates and tracks manufacturing costs, determines time standards, and makes recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new or existing product lines.
- Defines, develops and transfers manufacturing and engineering tools, strategies and systems.
- Maintains records and reporting systems for coordination of manufacturing operations.
- Develops, implements and analyzes manufacturing engineering plans and projects and communicates them to internal and external customers.
Skills:
- General knowledge of gear design and ability to create and maintain CNC programs to meet design and production intent.
- Advanced knowledge of Gear Cutting, Forming, Grinding, Heat Treating and Inspection.
- Should be proficient at precise shaping of teeth on a gear using methods such as Hobbing, Shaping, Milling & Broaching.
- Understanding of gear standards and inspection methods such as Over Pinned and Measurement of Backlash.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Requirements:
Associate’s Degree in Manufacturing Engineering with 6 years related experience or Bachelor’s Degree with 2 years related experience.
