About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Lean Manufacturing Manager specializing in supplier management to work as an independent contractor on a 12-month contract in Phoenix, Arizona. This role supports a leading client in the aerospace industry, known for its commitment to cutting-edge technology and quality. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in supplier management, particularly within metal casting, forging, or heavy complex manufacturing environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supplier Management: Lead and manage supplier relationships, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality materials and components. Establish and monitor supplier performance metrics, conduct assessments, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Operations Oversight: Manage daily operations related to supplier engagement, ensuring alignment with production schedules and mitigating potential supply chain disruptions.
- Process Optimization: Identify and implement process improvements within supplier management and manufacturing operations to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and maintain the highest quality standards.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with engineering, quality, procurement, and production teams to ensure supplier capabilities meet project requirements and timelines.
- Risk Management: Develop and execute strategies to mitigate supplier-related risks, ensuring minimal impact on production and delivery schedules.
- Compliance & Quality Assurance: Ensure all supplier processes comply with industry standards and aerospace regulations. Drive quality assurance initiatives to maintain the integrity of all supplied materials and components.
- Reporting & Analytics: Regularly report on supplier performance, operational efficiency, and project progress to senior management. Utilize data-driven insights to support strategic decision-making.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 8 years in operations management with a focus on supplier management in aerospace, metal casting, forging, or heavy complex manufacturing industries.
- Knowledge: Deep understanding of metal casting, forging processes, or heavy manufacturing operations. Familiarity with the specific challenges and requirements of the aerospace industry is highly desirable.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. Advanced degrees or relevant certifications are a plus.
- Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills. Proven ability to manage complex supplier networks and drive performance improvements. Strong analytical skills with a focus on process optimization and risk management.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in ERP systems, supplier management software, and other tools used in modern manufacturing environments.
