We are currently seeking a Transmission Planning Engineer to support Ongoing transmission studies for generation interconnections along with load flow and grid stability.
Position responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Serve as the regional Planning engineer
- Provide guidance to developers by helping them navigate the Transmission network to identify system capacity and optimal locations to Interconnect projects;
- Ability to plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate assigned work activities.
- Excellent data analysis and problem-solving abilities.
- Evaluate utility impact studies with the ability to challenge study methodology where appropriate;
- Assist project developers in the evaluation of potential Project sites to determine project feasibility and potential network upgrades and cost;
- Well-organized self-starter with a genuine drive for success and executing on both short- and longer-term strategic goals;
- Exhibit knowledge and understanding of T&D protective relay schemes.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5+ years of Power Engineering Experience with the desired specialty in Transmission Planning;
- In-depth knowledge of CERC processes - Generation interconnect
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or relevant study; MS preferred;
- Strong understanding of Transmission System impacts associated with the interconnection of distributed energy resources (DER), as well as knowledge of engineering solutions to mitigate those issues;
- Ability to successfully lead strategic initiatives in a fast-paced and challenging team-based multi-stakeholder environment;
- Experience with power systems modeling software such as PSS/E, PSCAD, PSLF, SKM/ETAP, Aspen, etc.
Preferred Qualifications
- Transient stability assessment
- EMT studies / Specialty Studies
- Experience working in the Western Interconnection region (WECC)
- Well Versed in PSLF software
- 10-15 years of dedicated experience in Transmission Planning
Education and Certifications / Licenses:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering - Electrical Engineer preferred.
- A registered Professional Engineering(PE) license is desired
