DESCRIPTION:
*Direct and assist in the management of systems and procedures to support current and projected valuation of all AFA products under various bases, and use such systems to manage and coordinate financial reporting activity of reserves and related actuarial items.
*Set and allocate claim reserves, calculate policy reserves and calculate premium reserves where appropriate or direct lower level actuarial analysts on the calculation of reserves .
*Further develop actuarial knowledge and skills by passing SOA actuarial examinations and obtaining ASA designation, working towards FSA designation, and/or meeting all SOA Continuing Education requirements
SKILLS:
- Expert PC skills, with comprehensive knowledge of Excel including the use of macros
- Strong mathematical aptitude
- Ability to readily create/modify SAS programs
- In depth knowledge of insurance products with a comprehensive understanding of actuarial aspects of valuation; understanding of related accounting issues, general taxation and regulatory issues and internal operation and administration systems
- Comprehensive understanding of projection/valuation software
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Shows initiative, such as addressing problems when needed
- Good planning and organizational skills, including management of multiple assignments
- Good judgement, problem solving, analytical and interpretive skills
