Job Description: This position strategically plans, organizes, and directs the Security, Workplace Violence Prevention programs, Emergency Management program and associated activities. This position serves as the operating executive responsible for the operational and regulatory oversight of Security, Emergency Management and Workplace Violence prevention across the enterprise. Works in concert with senior leadership to strategically develop Essentia Health Security, Emergency Management and Workplace Violence prevention development and establishes productive relationships with Essentia Health leadership teams, and local Workplace Violence program leads across Essentia Health integrated care delivery system. Responsible for ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines and standards.Key Responsibilities:•Administers operations and all Essentia Health plans, policies, and procedures relative to the system's Security, which includes Security workforce and shared security services: Training, Communications, Investigations, and Physical Security & Technology, Workplace Violence Prevention programs and Emergency Management•Responsible for the oversight, monitoring, and compliance of the Essentia Health Workplace Violence Prevention, Threat Management Program and Emergency Management program. This may include serving in the role of the designated leader of the organization's Workplace Violence Prevention program•Ensures Essentia Health remains prepared to address emergent responses and sustained business continuity and ongoing regulatory readiness and preparedness for the Emergency Management program •Works with, partners, and collaborates in a matrixed leadership structure to ensure the security and safety of staff, patients, and guests•Provides leadership and direction to assure compliance with all regulations, accreditation standards and Essentia Health policies and procedures•Maintains high visibility and accessibility within the organization and with external law enforcement and emergency response agenciesRequired Qualifications•A minimum of 5 years experience in the role of Director of Security in a hospital or healthcare systemPreferred Qualifications:•Prior progressive management experience in a large healthcare system in Security or Emergency Management
Education Qualifications:
Bachelor's degreeMaster's degree is preferred.
Licensure/Certification Qualifications:
Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator (CHPA) through the International Association of Healthcare Security & Safety (IAHSS)Preferred certification: FEMA Incident Command ICS 300 level certificate
