Position Summary
The Quality Control Technician provides analytical and organoleptic analyses in support of plant operations and process improvements, ensuring products meet both company and legal specifications. The position will ensure adherence to contract QA and GMP obligations, and the requirements of regulatory agencies, such as the TTB and FDA in the U.S. This individual will ensure adherence to good laboratory QA practices as prescribed in all applicable Quality Manuals including routine calibrations and standardizations, instrument troubleshooting and preventative maintenance, and management of laboratory supplies, reagents, and standards. Create, update and maintain SOP's relating to job function. This position will maintain a safe, orderly and clean laboratory and workplace conforming to generally accepted safety, GMP and GLP guidelines. Additionally, the position will support PDI plant operations and Product Development and R&D projects. (Night shift: 6pm – 2:30 am shift)
Role & Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- This position is responsible for ensuring that the quality of all products produced by Proximo meets our customer and internal specifications.
- Verify all products manufactured at Proximo meet internal specifications and governmental regulations.
- Provide analytical and sensory support for operating departments.
- Ensure traceability of analytical results for troubleshooting/statistical process control.
- Ensure test methods are performed according to prescribed procedures.
- Complete bottling line start-up evaluations in a timely manner.
Financial Responsibility
- Understands cost impact of inaccurate data or lack of communicating information to the appropriate personnel.
Decision Making
- Decisions on approving product at various stages as well as any batch adjustments not meeting specification.
- Decisions on non-routine activities are made with assistance.
Key Outputs/Deliverables
- Responsible for accurate and timely testing of samples received and communication of results to the appropriate personnel.
- Adheres to appropriate test methods / standard operating procedures.
- Maintains necessary files and documentation.
- Responsible for routine maintenance and calibration of small laboratory equipment.

Knowledge and Experience
- Bachelor's degree (BA or BS.) from four-year college or university in Chemistry preferred; or high school degree or equivalent with one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Backgrounds in Biology or other sciences may be acceptable.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SAP Accounting software.
- Must have strong communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to actively work toward the achievement of team and individual goals.
- Strong organizational and time management skills required.
