Job Description: This position is responsible for the operations, clinical practice, and ongoing development of pharmacy ambulatory infusion and research services. In alignment with and in support of departmental and EH strategic vision, direction, and priorities, the Director will lead the development and execution of programs, processes, and business strategies to meet service expectations, future growth, and business expansion. The Director will be responsible for ensuring compliance with quality, legal, regulatory, business, and accreditation standards as well as highest level clinical practice. The Director will work with clinical and non-clinical staff members to optimize operational and cost efficiencies wherever possible. The Director is a recognized pharmacy leader and provides strong, visible, values driven leadership and advocacy. Key Responsibilities:•In partnership with pharmacy leaders and other stakeholders, provide oversight of operations in assigned pharmacy and/or clinical service areas, driving patient care excellence while ensuring achievement of department and organizational goals•Maintain accountability to and resolve challenges and issues with budget and financial targets for assigned areas, in collaboration with other stakeholders•Serve as a key pharmacy liaison between service lines, programs, domains, and clinical areas as assigned•Foster an environment that provides consistent excellence in patient and customer experience, outcomes that meet or exceed quality standards and financial targets, a culture of employee engagement, and regulatory compliance•Ensure commitment to agreed-upon patient care philosophies and standards by assessing the proper use of the practice model and creating or modifying workflows•Create and maintain an environment for pharmacy professionals to function efficiently with known accountabilities and exemplary performance standards as well as maintain responsibility for leading succession development, emerging talent development, and maintaining the talent pipeline•Develop, implement, and communicate key metrics and improvement activities to monitor the performance of pharmacy and/or clinical operations•Partner with human resources and other teams on human capital initiatives that ensure recruitment of high-quality candidates, encourage professional development, and provide appropriate training and orientation•Build strong relationships with all internal groups, external agencies, and other stakeholders to anticipate needs and ensure alignment within a highly matrixed environment•Ensure contractual obligations are met and supports external relationships •Responsible for timely and accurate analysis and decision-making to support pharmacy business performance, operational, and financial objectives•Drive a culture of continuous improvement to achieve system pharmacy and organizational goals•Leads development of operational and clinical policies for assigned areas•Maintain knowledge to ensure and facilitate compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and standards•Maintains and enhances professional competency and skills by reviewing literature, attending in-services, seminars, conferences, and other continuing education •Provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served•Perform other responsibilities as needed/assignedRequired Qualifications:•Strong commitment and evidence of achieving excellence.•Proven history of successfully working in a team environment.•Proven history of a commitment to patient care and alignment with Essentia Health values.•Experience providing and/or overseeing progressive pharmacy infusion or cancer care services in an integrated healthcare system, and one of the following:- Completion of a PGY2 pharmacy residency in Hematology/Oncology and a minimum of 2 years applicable pharmacy management experience- or completion of an accredited PGY1 pharmacy residency and a minimum of 3 years applicable pharmacy management experience- or a minimum of 8 years applicable pharmacy experience with a minimum of 3 years pharmacy management experience. Preferred Qualifications:•Master's in Business Administration, Master's in Healthcare Administration or equivalent degree•Formal training or experience in quality improvement, financial analysis, patient safety, TJC accreditation standards, and expense management.•Board Certified by the Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties in Oncology Practice (BCOP)•Experience in all pharmacy related aspects of working with Chemotherapy, biological and other common infusion and injection pharmaceuticals•Research experience as a research investigator or experience in investigational drug processes and practice•History of active participation and leadership in pharmacy professional organizations•Knowledge and previous management experience in a cancer centerFLEXIBLE LOCATIONS: We are seeking candidates who are currently within or would relocate to the Essentia Health service area. Ideal locations include, but are not limited to, Duluth, MN; Fargo, ND; Brainerd, MN; Bismarck, ND; and other communities within Minnesota, North Dakota, and North-Western Wisconsin.
Education Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or Doctorate in Pharmacy
Licensure/Certification Qualifications:
Licensed Pharmacist - in states in scope of position, Board of Pharmacy licensure required upon hire or within 90 days of hire- MN, ND, and/or WI
