Job Summary:
The Antibody Engineering Department works to shape the future of medicine by discovering life-changing antibody therapies through pioneering science. We realize this vision through close collaboration with colleagues across the company. To fulfill our vision, we recruit talented and highly motivated scientists to discover and develop the next generation of antibody therapies.
We are seeking a dedicated and independent Scientist 2/3with strong molecular biology skills and experience in the design and assembly of antibody encoding plasmids for expression from mammalian cells
The Opportunity:
This is a hands-on, lab-based position that requires close collaboration with colleagues in the Antibody Engineering and is in support of various projects across multiple functions in research.
- Work with other scientist focused on discovery, developing, and engineering therapeutic antibody candidates.
- Apply molecular biology skills to drive the rapid assembly of antibody encoding plasmids for expression from mammalian cells.
- Collaborate in developing high throughput plasmid assembly solutions for various complex, and multi-specific antibody designs.
- Collaborate with automation engineers to build and develop workflows for high throughput, automated processes for DNA plasmid assembly and clonal mAb selection.
- Interact with informatic engineers to develop processes that support automated antibody development workflows including antibody (DNA and protein sequence) registration, tracking, archiving, and inventory.
Who You Are:
- The successful candidate will have a B.S. or M.S. degree in molecular biology or related science and 4+ years of applying molecular biology skills, preferably in an antibody research or industrial setting.
- Have a basic understanding of antibody therapeutics including IgGs (variable heavy and light chains and constant region), FAbs, bispecific antibodies, and VHH antibodies).
- Experience and expertise in performing polymerase chain reactions (PCR), general DNA plasmid construct assembly, steps necessary for antibody clone isolation including bacterial transformation, bacterial colony picking, bacterial clone culturing, plasmid purification at the mini to maxi scale, and analyzing DNA sequences.
- Experience in working with tools for antibody DNA sequence analysis, sequence confirmation, and sequence alignment is essential.
- Basic molecular biology skills in DNA ligation, DNA mutagenesis, oligonucleotide design, and endonuclease restriction digestion analysis are also required. Experience with surface plasmon resonance (SPR), performing binding ELISAs and graphing is preferred.
- Must have excellent record keeping skills, strong communication skills, and be experienced in data management using Excel or Google Drive.
