The Assistant Project Manager - Cabling is a training position designed to cultivate future leaders in project management within the telecommunications industry. This role involves learning to oversee and direct project teams, prepare strategic plans and budgets, develop comprehensive project plans, and analyze project data.

Focus:
- Support in managing a team responsible for providing communication infrastructure, including both passive and active systems such as ISP/OSP pathways, networking and wireless systems, CCTV, access control, A/V, and other technology solutions, ensuring design efficiency and adherence to contract requirements.
- Assist in the design and implementation of Information Transport Systems and telecommunications infrastructure.
- Oversee daily operations of a project or a sub-section of a larger project, ensuring smooth execution.
- Identify and resolve issues related to change orders, ensuring proper documentation and tracking.
- Manage financial aspects of the project, including cash flow planning and expense monitoring.
- Maintain accurate as-built documentation as work progresses.
- Document and address project issues and conditions in real-time.
- Plan and execute project completion, including punch list development and resolution.
- Set specific goals and prioritize tasks to ensure project milestones are achieved.
- Interpret and work from blueprints and project specifications.
- Research and compile project submittals, price change orders, and prepare estimates for partially designed projects.
- Collaborate with supervisory personnel, clients, contractors, and design professionals to resolve project-related challenges.
- Represent the company in communications with customers, public agencies, and general contractors.
- Ensure timely decision-making, submission of RFIs, and documentation of all agreements.
Skill Set:
- At least 5-7 years of relevant experience in telecommunications or electrical contracting, paired with a degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated experience overseeing telecommunications and electronic security projects with budgets between $500,000 and $10 million.
- Proficiency in working with contract documents, including drawings, subcontracts, specifications, change orders, RFIs, and submittals.
- Experience with the installation of Information Transport Systems.
- Proficiency in MS Office, project management tools, CPM scheduling, cost modeling, and AutoCAD.
- Strong understanding of design techniques, tools, and concepts related to technical plans and blueprints.
- Familiarity with standard deliverables and processes in construction and integration projects.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to plan and organize activities effectively.
- Ability to work in a diverse team environment and manage multiple tasks.
- Reliable attendance and ability to work flexible hours, including occasional nights and weekends.
- Willingness to travel up to 25%, with reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with Accubid Estimating or equivalent software related to electrical installations.
- Proficiency with Primavera P6 or equivalent CPM scheduling software.
- Willingness and ability to travel to project sites as needed.
