Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced and visionary Vice President of Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning to lead our AI/ML efforts. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of biotechnology and a proven track record of leveraging AI and ML to drive innovation and impact. This role will be responsible for shaping the strategic direction of AI/ML initiatives, managing a team of data scientists, machine learning engineers, and computational biologists.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive AI/ML strategy that aligns with the company’s overall R&D and business objectives, driving innovation in drug discovery, biomarker development, clinical trial optimization, and other key areas.
- Team Management: Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing team of data scientists, machine learning engineers, and bioinformaticians, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
- AI/ML Development: Oversee the design, development, and deployment of scalable AI and ML models and platforms to support various biotech applications, including predictive modeling, image analysis, natural language processing, and computational biology.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Research, Biology, Chemistry, Clinical, and IT teams to identify opportunities for AI/ML integration, ensuring alignment with scientific and business goals.
- Innovation and Research: Stay abreast of the latest advancements in AI/ML, biotech, and computational biology; drive initiatives to adopt and adapt new technologies and methodologies.
Qualifications:
- Education: Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, or a related field. A strong background in life sciences or biotechnology is highly preferred.
- Experience: 10+ years of experience in AI/ML, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the biotech, pharmaceutical, or healthcare industry.
- Technical Expertise: Extensive experience in the complete ML development lifecycle with machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch and Lightning), statistical modeling, data science, and computational biology tools.
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in Python programming and 2 years in designing and implementing AI and ML algorithms using Python.
- Leadership Skills: Proven track record of building and leading high-performing, cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
- Industry Experience: Preferred experience in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry.
