Job Title: Project Manager - Marketing Ops
Duration: 3 Month W2 Contract
Location: Saint Paul, MN
Pay: $32-$40/hour depending on experience
Position summary:
The Marketing Operations Project Manager manages complex marketing operations projects from discovery through execution and measurement. During the project lifecycle, the role develops and monitors the project scope and plan – including time/cost/resource estimates – while managing risks and adherence to enterprise marketing objectives and standards. In addition, the role fosters positive relationships across teams, acting as the principal project contact, providing updates to stakeholders and project team members for marketing operations initiatives.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Manage complex marketing/marketing operations projects from discovery through execution and measurement. Provide project management, time/cost estimates and ensure alignment with enterprise marketing objectives.
- Develops, manages and leads medium and large-scale, cross-department marketing operations projects from discovery through execution and measurement.
- Partners with internal business partners and teams to build project plans, prioritize projects and coordinate resources within planning, resource and workflow management system (Adobe Workfront).
- Identifies, initiates and monitors project deliverables including milestones, roles/responsibilities, timelines, and required tasks. Balances considerations of scope, quality, time and cost.
- Helps internal and external stakeholders understand the impact of the project to broader projects and business areas.
- Ensures execution of the project communication plan, including reporting progress to the project owner, management, business partners, vendors and other stakeholders.
- Drives projects to completion, prepares summaries and ensures project closure activities are completed.
- Identifies and implements improvement opportunities as appropriate.
- Supervises project review by completing project retrospectives to review project results, metrics and plan for future improvements to related projects and processes.
- Provides time/cost estimates for marketing operations projects. Compares and reports estimate against final cost.
- Provide marketing operations project oversight and consistency.
- Writes scope statements for complex projects and interprets them for impacted teams and stakeholders to lead communication strategies and implement marketing operations efforts.
- Assembles the project team to lead the marketing/marketing operations strategy.
- In addition to Marketing Operations, collaborates with members of the project team, which may include Brand, Corporate Communications, User Experience, Creative Services, Customer Insights, Securian.com, Solutions Marketing, Associate Experience Enablement, Marketing Technology and business stakeholders for cross-department needs.
Required skills:
- Marketing operations project management experience across a variety of marketing mediums.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams, both through idea generation and assessment of ideas generated by others.
- Project management skills to manage large, complex, and/or strategic business projects to successful outcomes within tight deadlines.
- Self-motivated and independent with solid analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills to assess potential solutions to business requirements and prepare cost-benefit analyses.
- Marketing operations and/or agency background and skills to lead teams to generate effective, efficient marketing/marketing operations solutions.
- Communication skills to effectively interact with management and associates across all areas of the organization. Written communication skills to clearly and concisely document business requirements, test plans and results.
- Ability to prioritize and adapt to changing project priorities while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced service environment, where implementation speed is often critical.
- Successful track record of client service in a marketing operations or agency environment.
- Five to ten years of professional-level experience in a project management role in a marketing organization.
Preferred qualifications:
- Client-facing project management experience (internal or external marketing agency).
- Experience using Adobe Workfront (project/workflow management software).
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, technology or business.
- Financial services industry knowledge and broad understanding of products, markets and operations.
