Job Title: Plating Lab Technician (Chemist)
Location: Chicago, IL
Hire Type: Contract-to-Hire, Onsite
Target Pay Range: $25.00 - $32.00/hour (W2, with full employee benefits)
Job Summary:
The Plating Lab Technician is responsible for coating products and components with chemical materials in a controlled laboratory environment. This person will monitor the coating process, ensure that necessary equipment is clean and operating properly, and will make sure that all scientific measurements are analyzed and accurate.
Job Duties:
- Make sure the chemistry, temperature, and pH of the plating bath is maintained by regular analysis.
- Making chemical additions to tanks based on the analytical tests and requirements.
- Maintain anodes, filters, and other physicals on the plating bath.
- Ensure that all parts meet necessary quality requirements.
- Maintain lab data on Lab Management software.
- Overall lab maintenance including inventory control, raw material check, moving drums, and organizing chemical storage.
- Will report to the Lab Supervisor daily.
Qualifications:
- Wet chemistry lab experience is required (Plating experience is highly preferred).
- Ability to learn X-ray machines, adhesion thickness tests, and other methods used to test the quality of products.
- Ability to acquire Forklift license, if needed.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.
