Yorktel is currently seeking a Sr. Field Engineer who will be focused on a fast-paced high-volume production and engineering department and staff. The Sr. Field Engineer is also responsible for meeting project commitments (both financial and non-financial) and the overall service of external customers. Responsibilities include but are not limited to strategic or operational planning within the field engineering departments, monitoring the performance of active projects, financial analysis to include job cost monitoring and reporting, staff training, adherence to standard operating practice and processes.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot issues, make recommendations, and ensure problem resolution in conjunction with the assigned team.
- Communicate complex technical issues and respond to detailed inquiries about resolving these issues.
- Handle and protect confidential information, using discretion and judgment based on company policies.
- Provide technical support to the sales team in a comprehensive, timely manner.
- Interface with clients and job sites to document customer requirements and conditions.
- Provide and document customer design based on client requirements and job site conditions.
- Work directly with clients, architects, consultants, and staff throughout the design development and delivery process with support from the Supervisor.
- Develop Statements of Work for each job based on system design and customer requirements.
- Create system design drawings, including audiovisual system diagrams, specifications, and operational capability narratives.
- Develop accurate job cost estimates.
- Provide technical responses to customer RFPs/RFQs/RFIs.
- Maintain complete and accurate project documentation and records.
- Communicate effectively with internal staff, client representatives, cooperative trades, and subcontractors.
- Coordinate and manage multiple system design projects.
- Ensure successful completion of assignments on time and within budget.
- Develop and conform to company technical standards and practices.
- Correctly interpret technical specifications, schematic drawings, and architectural diagrams.
- Create Scope of Work documents reflecting solution descriptions, capabilities, and limitations.
- Present technical solutions to executive-level audiences at partner and client organizations.
- Participate in transition activities to transfer information from pre-sales to implementation teams.
- Create and test plans for solutions in both York-VCA and customer labs, emulating live environments.
- Analyze customer networks to discern visual communications requirements.
- Provide support for ad hoc and one-of-a-kind projects.
- Research technical issues involving network and visual communications equipment.
- Collaborate with manufacturers and vendors on current and future technologies to select applicable products for clients.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Knowledge of video network infrastructure commissioning and support.
- Polycom/Tandberg/Cisco certification desirable (TCE/CVE).
- InfoComm CTS certification (Advanced CTS-D desirable).

Education & Experience:
- A degree in a related field, such as audio engineering, electrical engineering, or computer science, is preferred but not required. However, having one can demonstrate a strong foundation in technical skills and knowledge.
- Certifications in specific AV systems, such as Crestron or AMX, are also helpful.
- Several years of experience working with audiovisual equipment and systems, with a thorough understanding of design, installation, and troubleshooting.
- Experience leading a team of technicians and managing projects, including creating project timelines and budgets.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with clients to understand needs and provide solutions.
- A successful candidate should possess a combination of technical expertise, project management skills, and strong communication abilities.

- Ability to lift and carry objects up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent sitting, standing, and walking
- Limited weekend and/or night work may be required
- Domestic travel requiring multi-night stays within and at times outside the local work area
- Valid passport; International travel possible
- Valid U.S. driver’s license
- Must be willing to complete background checks and drug tests as required by current or future contracts
- Must be willing to apply for security clearances, suitability, and other related clearances to be able to work at certain customer locations.
