Job Description:
Our client is looking for a seasoned Associate Attorney with 10 years of experience in litigating ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) or civil rights cases. The ideal candidate will have extensive trial experience, a deep understanding of civil rights laws, and a proven track record of handling complex litigation. This role involves managing cases from inception through trial and contributing to the firm’s mission of upholding justice and equality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Litigation and Case Management:
- Handle all aspects of ADA and civil rights litigation, including case strategy, discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation.
- Manage complex caseloads, ensuring effective case management and adherence to deadlines.
- Represent clients in court proceedings, including trials, hearings, and mediations.
- Trial Experience:
- Lead and participate in trials, including presenting evidence, examining witnesses, and delivering opening and closing statements.
- Prepare trial materials, including exhibits, witness lists, and trial briefs.
- Collaborate with experts and co-counsel to develop and execute trial strategies.
- Legal Research and Writing:
- Conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis on ADA and civil rights issues.
- Draft and file legal documents, including complaints, motions, briefs, and discovery requests.
- Prepare persuasive legal arguments and strategic recommendations.
- Client and Opposing Counsel Interaction:
- Communicate regularly with clients to provide updates, gather information, and address legal concerns.
- Negotiate settlements and manage interactions with opposing counsel to resolve disputes.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships through effective representation and communication.
- Professional Development and Advocacy:
- Stay informed about developments in ADA and civil rights law to provide cutting-edge legal advice and representation.
- Participate in professional organizations, attend legal seminars, and contribute to the firm’s thought leadership in civil rights advocacy.
Qualifications:
- Education and Experience:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Admitted to practice in California.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in litigating ADA and civil rights cases, with substantial trial experience.
- Proven track record of handling complex litigation and achieving favorable outcomes.
- Skills:
- Strong trial skills, including the ability to present cases effectively in court and manage trial logistics.
- Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical abilities.
- Deep understanding of ADA and civil rights laws, including relevant case law and regulations.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills.
