Deloitte is recruiting staff for our GPS international energy programs. These programs focus on expanding the supply of clean, affordable electricity, advanced energy technologies, and associated policy and technology at the national, regional, and local levels. Other objectives include:
Supporting government agencies to develop and implement energy transition strategies to meet their emissions reduction commitments.
Improving the technical and institutional capacity and performance of domestic and international utilities and power sector entities as they seek to build a more clean and resilient power grid.
Helping public and private entities better accelerate and prepare for transportation electrification in their jurisdictions.
Supporting policy and regulatory efforts that will accelerate the above interventions.
To support these programs, Deloitte is recruiting a part-time independent consultant to serve as a battery energy storage system (BESS) Specialist to support a variety of activities to achieve the above objectives.
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Power System Engineering, or other relevant field, particularly in the energy sector with a minimum 7 years of related experience
Familiarity with leading practice options for business models and commercial frameworks for BESS
Ability to do the following:
identify strengths and weaknesses of business models and incentive mechanisms to support solar/ BESS project, covering the entire project life;
provide contractual and commercial framework concepts that illustrate the agreements required between necessary parties.
understand battery and BESS market trends in technology, capital and operating costs, major suppliers, market applications, and regional developments;
analyze comparable BESS pricing mechanisms and costs in leading countries to benchmark financial considerations for the project
provide an analysis of capacity-energy payments, energy payments, or suitable mechanisms for BESS-business models; and
Demonstrated experience building consensus and achieving collaborative solutions among a diverse set of stakeholders
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills and ability to solve complex problems
Strong business writing and presentation skills and ability to develop written materials
Ability to write, communicate, and prepare engagement materials fluently in English
Preferred
Experience leading teams and managing in an interdisciplinary work environment
Experience working in emerging markets and with government stakeholders and international donors and finance institutions
