Arcosa Marine Products is searching for a Welding Engineer for our Ashland City, TN Operation. In this role, you will provide the plant with welding and technical support, such as training, welding process troubleshooting, and welding process improvement. The Welding Engineer will have oversight of the welding school and welding technicians. This individual will be able to apply working knowledge of industry welding codes and specifications.
Arcosa Marine Products, Inc., is part of Arcosa’s Inland Barge Group, and is a leading manufacturer of barges used to transport cargo on U.S. inland waterways. Arcosa Marine Products manufactures dry cargo barges, including flat-deck and hopper barges, that are used to transport a variety of products including grain, coal, and aggregates. Arcosa Marine Products also manufactures tank barges that carry petroleum, fertilizer, ethanol, chemicals, and other liquid cargoes. It is the largest U.S. manufacturer of fiberglass hopper barge covers used primarily on grain barges. Additionally, Arcosa Marine Products provides a full line of deck hardware to the marine industry, including hatches, castings, and winches for towboats and dock facilities.
What you'll do:
- Supervise Weld Technicians.
- Oversee the weld school operations.
- Enhance and develop the plant welding program.
- Maintain welder candidate training, testing, and qualification records.
- Perform hands-on welder candidate training for the FCAW, SAW, SMAW, plasma/oxyfuel cutting, and air-carbon-arc gouging processes.
- Conduct classroom training on welding safety, welding, and cutting processes, visual weld acceptance criteria, welding symbols, drawings, etc.
- Perform hands-on training.
- Provide additional training (OJT) to production welders as required.
- Assist in qualifying welding procedure specifications as required.
- Participate in welding improvement projects/other duties as required.
- Participate in welding audits/other duties as required.
- Provide technical assistance on welding during customer and third-party audits.
What you'll need:
- Welding Engineering Degree
- Advanced knowledge of FCAW, SAW, and GMAW welding processes with hands on proficiency
- Proficient in conducting AWS D1.1 welder qualification tests and generating welder qualification records.
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or capable of achieving within a year
- Proficient in using various weld inspection tools such as amp/volt/wire feed/gas flow meters, fillet weld gages, undercut gages, etc.
- Able to read and comprehend welding symbols, welding procedure specifications, work instructions, drawings, bill of materials, etc.
- Possess written and oral communication skills. Bilingual (Spanish) desired.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Capable hands on and classroom trainer
