Alpha Research & Technologyhas immediate opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer located in El Dorado Hills, CA. This is an exciting opportunity to design and develop mechanical and electromechanical components, assemblies, products, and systems according to customer requirements. The ideal candidate will have experience with the analysis and design process for addressing thermal, shock, and vibration aspects of electronic equipment.
An active Secret Security Clearance is required.
Responsibilities:
- Develops mechanical and electro-mechanical products by studying customer requirements, researching, and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials.
- Design work includes mechanical parts and assemblies, electronic enclosures, equipment racks, machined metal parts, sheet metal components and 3D printed parts incorporating electrical and cabling systems into designs.
- Design involvement ranges from concept to product realization using 3D solid modeling software.
- Performs material selection, tolerance analysis, thermal solution design, implementation of human interface elements such as keypads and buttons, and routing of wiring harnesses.
- Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) for shock, vibe, thermal, etc. utilizing SolidWorks.
- Provides direct support to Manufacturing in a training and advisory role. Provides support in resolution of customer issues, including installation and mechanical related operational issues.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- 5+years of experience in mechanical design related to electronics products and systems with proven track record on product development from concept through release to production.
- Previous experience and demonstrated knowledge of analysis and design process for addressing thermal, shock and vibration aspects of electronic equipment.
- Working knowledge of FEA for structural and thermal aspects of electronic enclosure and equipment rack designs.
- Advanced knowledge and experience with SolidWorks and Microsoft Office.
